The Kingi Division is specifically for juniors who are not confident open water swimmers. The swim course will be in water no deeper than waist height, allowing participants to stand at any time.
Rules:
All participants under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a parent during the swim.
Any participant in the Kingi Division may have a designated support person accompany them in the water.
Yes, for Kingi's aged 5 years and under, they must be accompanied by an adult at all times, including the swim portion. Kingi's 5 years and under can complete any distance on the run up to the 1 km distance that the older Kingi's do.
The swim portion for the Kingi's will be parallel to shore at a depth that is set by the parents at no more than waist height of the Kingi.
Older Kingi's that are competent swimmers and runners are also invited to enter the junior race as an under 12-year-old. Please note, under 12-year-olds will be swimming in open water over their heads.
Apart from the Kingi and Rookie event, no swimmer shall enter the water unless they acknowledge that they are competent at swimming at depths over 2m for the entire way.
In the event that the council determines that Point England Beach is a red flag, the event will drop down to a series of run-only events.
The Twilight Swim Series acknowledges that open water swims could be considered an intimidating environment for those new to the sport. If you consider yourself to be a "Rookie," we invite you to swim in your own wave with other "Rookie" right next to you. This wave will start 15 minutes prior to the main event. The "Rookie" will be time-limited to 15 minutes regardless of distance and must be out of the water prior to the main event starting. Once you have exited the water, you continue the run component as usual. The "Rookie" option is only available for races 1 and 2 and not available for races three and four.
The series acknowledges that triathlon-based events are not cheap. With that, we would like to offer free single entry passes to the Twilight SwimRun Series if you can nominate one person to volunteer and assist our team with the running of the event.
For the volunteer, it is a fun-filled event that does not include the physical event setup or the event breakdown. Volunteers will assist in fun areas like transition flow, crowd control, or out on course helping with course direction. Essentially, if you want a person to race for free, you just need to nominate an adult or a person over 14 to assist us with the smooth running of the event.
Here are the conditions for a free single entry registration into the series:
First, complete the information about the person who will receive the complimentary entry.
Agree to the waiver.
At checkout, please include the information of the person who will be volunteering at the event on the day, including an email address where we will contact you seven days before the event.
Seven days prior, we will confirm that you will be attending as a volunteer, and at this point, we will validate the person receiving the complimentary entry.
If you do not validate this person's registration, they will be withdrawn from the event and will be welcome to register and pay as normal.
Please note that we have limited volunteer spots for each event, and once these places are filled, this registration process will close without further notice.
